Juniper Custom's custom jacket service is one of our most beloved offerings — and one of the most transformative things we do. A set of books you already own, reimagined with bespoke jackets designed entirely around your vision, can change not just a shelf but a room. We have designed jackets that complement the colors of a client's kitchen, that transformed a contemporary library into a distinguished British-style study, and that unified a beloved but visually mismatched book series into a cohesive, stunning collection. The range of what is possible is genuinely extraordinary.

What the Service Includes

You send us your books. Our skilled in-house design team — working from our Boulder, Colorado studio — collaborates closely with you to develop a jacket concept that realizes your vision with precision and artistry. Once you approve the design renderings, we print, trim, laminate, and hand-wrap every jacket onto your books with meticulous care, then pack them carefully and ship them back to you, transformed.

Softcover editions are welcome too — if you'd like to add paperbacks to your project, simply let us know and we'll arrange custom bookbinding as part of the service.

The Process

Getting started is simple. Click "Get Started with a Deposit" and proceed to checkout, then fill out our short project form to tell us how many books you're sending, share a brief description of your design direction, and upload any inspiration images you have in mind.

Within 2–4 business days, you'll receive a comprehensive project proposal. If you choose to proceed, we'll provide detailed instructions on how to pack and ship your books to us — and at that stage, a 50% deposit of the total project cost will be required depending on project size. Once your books arrive in Boulder, design work begins, and nothing goes to production without your approval.

Can I get custom jackets made for books I already own?
Yes — and this is precisely what this service is designed for. Whether you have a single cherished volume you'd like to see reimagined, a series whose covers have never quite matched, or an entire collection you'd like unified under a cohesive design language, our team can create bespoke jackets for any hardcover book you already own. Paperback editions can also be accommodated through our custom bookbinding service. You ship us the books; we handle everything from there.

What if I don't have a clear design direction in mind?
That is more common than you might think — and it is exactly what our design team is here for. Some of our most beautiful projects have begun with nothing more than a feeling, a color, or a single word: "warm," "dramatic," "like an old Oxford library." Our designers are skilled at translating an instinct into a fully realized visual concept, and we'll present design renderings for your approval before a single jacket goes to print. You will always know exactly what you're getting before we produce it.

How are the books packaged and shipped back to me?
With the same care and attention we bring to every stage of the process. Once your jackets are printed, trimmed, laminated, and hand-wrapped, your books are packed meticulously for their return journey — because a beautifully designed jacket deserves to arrive in perfect condition. We provide detailed guidance on how to pack and ship your books to us before they leave your hands, so they travel safely in both directions.
