Some rooms have every element in place but one. More often than not, what is missing is books: the right books, chosen with intention for that particular room and that particular life. A Full Custom collection gathers 11 to 100 books around a genre, a beloved author, a theme, or simply the beauty of a unified shelf, from a kitchen shelf that deserves warmth to a den that calls for intellectual weight and visual drama. If a title exists, we will find it, and if it is available only in paperback, we can have it bound.

Books may wear custom jackets, their publishers' originals, or a considered mixture of both.

The Process

1. Begin with a deposit. Click "Get Started with a Deposit" and proceed to checkout.
2. We reach out within 2 business days to discuss your title preferences, the scale of your collection and your design direction. Feel free to share anything from our portfolio that caught your eye.
3. Research and design. Our curators research titles and availability while a designer prepares your initial design concept. This typically takes 1 to 2 weeks.
4. Your proposal. We present an estimate and design concept outlining the full scope, cost and timeline.
5. Approval. If you accept, we send an invoice before acquiring the books and finalizing the design.

Your deposit is deducted in full from the total project estimate.

How does a collection differ from a library?
Chiefly in scale. A collection of 11 to 100 books suits a single room, a dedicated bookcase or a curated corner. A library, of more than 100 books, becomes an architectural statement in its own right.

Do I need to know which books I want before we begin?
Not at all. Many collections begin with nothing more than a feeling: a love of mid-century American fiction, or a wish for a shelf that looks at home in a Parisian apartment. Our curators translate that instinct into a considered list of titles.

Can custom jackets and publishers' jackets be combined?
Yes. A collection can pair a run of custom-jacketed volumes with books in their original jackets, giving the shelf both unity and variety.
