Before there was a nation, there was an argument: in pamphlets and letters, and in speeches made at great personal risk. This set gathers eight volumes of the writings in which the American Revolution was debated and defended and the Constitution was fought over, from the fiery prose of Thomas Paine to the Federalists and their opponents.
The custom book jackets show an early Colonial flag overlaid with text and signatures from the Declaration of Independence. Two and a half centuries on, these ideas remain as vital as ever. It is a set for the reader of early American history, and a distinguished gift for a student of government, a lawyer or a civic-minded friend.
The Collection
