Made to Order at Juniper Custom in Boulder, Colorado

A murder aboard a snowbound train. A house that will not let its guests go. A charming impostor who will stop at nothing. Some of the most ingenious and unsettling crime fiction ever written came from women, and this set gathers the essential few.

The set includes Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express, starring Hercule Poirot; a collection of Shirley Jackson's finest work, including "The Lottery" and The Haunting of Hill House, which inspired the acclaimed Netflix series; Patricia Highsmith's Ripley novels; Daphne du Maurier's Rebecca; and an anthology edited by crime fiction authority Sarah Weinman. Our exclusive design recalls the crime covers of the 1940s, with a detective's silhouette set against a black and white library. It is a set for the devoted mystery reader, and a gift for anyone who loves a story that keeps them reading past midnight.

What unites these writers beyond the genre?
Each found menace in the familiar. Christie turned a luxury train into a sealed puzzle, Jackson discovered terror in a village tradition and a family home, du Maurier made a grand house the keeper of a dead woman's memory, and Highsmith invited readers to sympathize with a murderer. Together they show how much of the modern mystery, and its psychological depth, was shaped by women.
