Begin Your Project With a Deposit — Juniper Custom
There is a particular kind of library that announces itself the moment you walk into a room. Not loudly — but with an unmistakable, settled authority. The kind that comes from shelves of genuine leather-bound books, their 22-karat gold-stamped spines catching the light, their weight and craftsmanship communicating something about the seriousness with which their owner regards the life of the mind.
This is the library that Easton Press and Franklin Library were created to fill. And for over two decades, Juniper Custom has been building them.
What This Service Offers
Our full custom modern leather-bound library service is built around the two most celebrated names in luxury leather bookbinding — Easton Press and the Franklin Library. The Franklin Library, which produced its extraordinary editions from 1973 to 2000, created leather-bound volumes of enduring beauty that remain among the most sought-after collector's editions ever made. Easton Press has been producing luxurious leather-bound books for over three decades, with designs featuring 22-karat gold-stamped spines and premium details throughout — including their celebrated series The 100 Greatest Books Ever Written, now expanded with an additional 25 volumes.
Every book in your collection is individually handpicked by our curators, ensuring a selection that is as visually stunning as it is intellectually enriching. Collections can range from an intimate single-author set to a comprehensive library of over 1,000 volumes — we have built them at every scale, and we bring the same depth of knowledge and care to each one.
We are also frequently asked whether we buy used leather-bound books. The answer is yes — with some considerations. If you have a collection to sell or are looking to acquire specific titles to complement an existing library, please reach out directly to clientservices@junipercustom.com and our team will be happy to discuss the possibilities.
The Process
Begin by clicking "Get Started with a Deposit" and proceeding to checkout. Within 2 business days, our team will reach out to discuss the size and scope of your collection. A dedicated curator then researches availability and title selection — typically within 1–2 weeks. You'll receive a comprehensive estimate outlining the full scope, cost, and timeline of your project. If you choose to proceed, an invoice is sent before books are acquired.
Full custom projects vary significantly in cost and lead time depending on scope and title availability.
The deposit is non-refundable, as it covers the labor involved in researching your books and preparing proposals.
FAQs
What is the difference between Easton Press and Franklin Library editions?
Both publishers produced leather-bound collector's editions of exceptional quality, but they have distinct characters that collectors and library builders often feel strongly about. The Franklin Library, which operated from 1973 to 2000, is no longer in production — making its editions genuinely collectible objects with a finite supply. Easton Press continues to produce new volumes today, with a catalog that spans classic and contemporary literature, history, science, and beyond. Both feature leather bindings, gilt detailing, and the kind of physical craftsmanship that mass-market publishing abandoned decades ago. Many of our most beautiful leather libraries draw from both publishers, creating a collection with depth, variety, and the layered character of something assembled over time.
How large can a custom modern leather library be?
As large as your shelves — and your vision. Over the past two decades we have curated modern leather-bound collections ranging from a single beautifully conceived book set, such as a complete James Bond series, to libraries of over 1,000 volumes spanning the full breadth of literature, history, philosophy, and beyond. The scope is genuinely wide, and our curators have the knowledge, the publisher relationships, and the sourcing experience to build at any scale. Whatever size you are imagining, bring it to us and we will tell you honestly what is possible and what it will take to get there.
Do you buy or source used Easton Press and Franklin Library editions?
Yes — and this is one of the things that sets Juniper Custom apart in the leather book world. We actively work with used and previously owned leather-bound editions, both in acquiring books for client projects and in purchasing collections that clients wish to sell. If you have a collection of Easton Press or Franklin Library books you are looking to part with, or if you are hoping to source specific out-of-print titles to complete a library you are already building, reach out to our team directly at clientservices@junipercustom.com. We have spent over two decades navigating this market and we are always happy to have the conversation.
