What Full Custom Means

A Juniper Custom full custom library is a completely bespoke experience, designed for collections of 100 books or more. Whether you are drawn to rare first editions, contemporary literature, niche subjects, or a richly layered mix of all three, our team works closely with you at every stage to build something that exceeds expectation and reflects your taste with precision.

Your vision guides every decision — including whether your books are presented as published, enhanced with our custom-designed jackets, or some considered combination of both. A library where custom jackets create a dramatic visual mural. A collection left entirely in publishers' formats for an organic, gathered-over-time feel. Or something in between, designed to surprise and delight at every turn. The possibilities are genuinely extraordinary, and the choice is entirely yours.

If a title exists, we will find it. If it is only available in paperback, we will bind it. No request is too specific, no vision too ambitious.

The Process

Begin by clicking "Get Started with a Deposit" and proceeding to checkout. Within 2 business days our team will reach out to discuss your title selections, the scale of your library, and your design preferences — including anything from our portfolio that has caught your eye. Feel free to share shelf elevations or photographs of your space; the more we understand your world, the better we can build within it.

From there, you'll receive a comprehensive proposal and initial design concept outlining the full scope, cost, and timeline of your project — typically within 1–2 weeks. Your deposit is deducted in full from the total project cost.

Scale and scope. A custom book set is an intimate project of 1–10 volumes — a gift, a keepsake, a single shelf brought to life. A custom collection expands that vision into something more substantial. A custom library is our most comprehensive offering, encompassing 100 books or more and often involving the full design of a room's shelving, aesthetic, and narrative arc. All three begin with the same commitment: every title chosen with intention, every detail considered, and every project treated as the singular, irreplaceable thing it is.

Can Juniper Custom design the jackets to create a visual mural or unified look across an entire library?
Yes — and it is among the most breathtaking things we do. Our in-house design team has created libraries where custom jackets form a continuous mural across an entire wall of shelving, where a single color palette unifies hundreds of volumes into a cohesive visual statement, and where individual jacket designs tell a story that only reveals itself when the full collection is seen together. How long does a full custom library take to complete?
