No collection of American fiction or nonfiction is complete without the works of the Black authors who, through brilliant writing and incisive social commentary, challenged – and changed – the way we view our country’s established traditions. We've curated a set that showcases important highlights of 19th and 20th-century African American literature, including hardcover editions from Library of America, Modern Library, and Everyman's Library.

The custom jackets we designed for the set feature a reproduction of "The Library," a painting by Jacob Lawrence thought to depict the 135th Street Library in Harlem (now the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture).
