The cookbooks we treasure tell the story of how we eat: the cuisine we grew up with, the chef who taught us to roast a chicken, the recipes we make for the people we love. We curate cookbook collections around a culinary icon, from Julia Child to Ina Garten, around a regional cuisine or a style of cooking, or around a list of the recipient's own favorites. Our designers can unite the set with your photographs or artwork, a palette drawn from the kitchen, or typography alone. It is among our most requested projects, and a gift for a wedding, a housewarming or the cook who has everything.
The Process
- Begin with a deposit. Click "Get Started with a Deposit" and proceed to checkout.
- We reach out within 2 business days to discuss the titles you would like included and your design direction.
- Curation and design. A curator researches availability while a designer develops initial concepts. This typically takes 1 to 2 weeks.
- Your proposal. We present an estimate and initial Design Concept outlining the full scope, cost and timeline.
- Approval. If you accept, we send an invoice before acquiring the books and producing the custom jackets.
Your deposit is deducted in full from the total project estimate.
Full Custom projects vary in cost and lead time depending on scope, title availability and design.
Please note that the deposit is non-refundable, as it covers our labor to research books and prepare design concepts.
FAQs
Can a family's own photographs become the jacket design?
Yes. Images from a grandmother's kitchen or a couple's travels can be woven into the design. All images must be your own or properly licensed.
Can out-of-print cookbooks be included?
Often, yes. We source through specialty channels where possible, and our leather binding service can bind paperback editions into hardcovers.
How might a collection be organized?
Around a single chef, a cuisine, a season, or simply a lifetime of favorites. Our curators will help you find the thread.
