Some rooms begin with a paint chip. Others begin with a length of fabric, a rug, or a single Pantone swatch pinned to a mood board. Our color-driven libraries begin there too.
We curate a collection of books for your shelves and wrap them in custom book jackets designed in the exact shades of your interior. That can be a single tone, an ombre that deepens shelf by shelf, or a gradient that moves across the full spectrum. Interior designers turn to us to complete a palette with precision, and homeowners turn to us when a bookshelf should feel as considered as the rest of the room. You may also choose books in their original publisher jackets, or with no jackets at all.
One project shown here was a collaboration with Chicago interior designer Nicole Foster. We curated literary classics for her client's remodel and dressed them in custom jackets in several shades of grey.
The Process
- Begin with a deposit. Click "Get Started with a Deposit" and proceed to checkout.
- We reach out within 2 business days to discuss the number of books you would like, any authors or subjects to include, and your design preferences. You are not limited to the examples shown.
- Curation and design. A curator researches book availability and a designer creates an initial concept. This typically takes 1 to 2 weeks.
- Your proposal. We present a proposal and preliminary design outlining the total cost and lead time.
- Approval. If you accept, we send an invoice before acquiring the books and finalizing the design. Your deposit is deducted from the project estimate.
Full Custom projects vary in cost and lead time depending on their scope.
Please note that the deposit is non-refundable, as it covers our labor to research books and prepare design concepts.
FAQs
How do you match the jackets to my colors?
We work from whatever defines your palette: Pantone references, paint chips, upholstery, fabric samples or a designer's mood board.
Can I choose the books inside the jackets?
Yes. Share the authors, subjects or titles you would like, and our curators will build the collection around them.
Can the colors shift across the shelves?
Certainly. Ombre and gradient designs are among our most striking projects, moving from one tone to the next across a single shelf or an entire wall.
